I thought it would be useful to compare two types of 28mm plastic Arab infantry that both might be used in the Saga wargame.

Here are the two offerings… Gripping Beast and Hat (The “El Cid” range).

First are the Hat models…

Then the Gripping Beast Arab infantry and archers box….

These guys are a matter of cost or quality. The Hat models are about a third of the price of the GB models, but you get less in a box. The HAt models are not customisable. What you see is what you get, plus some shields.

The Heads on the Hat models are smaller than the GB ones.

The GB figures are slightly chunkier but because of the heads look significantly different they look a lot beefier.

To be honest, this is a no contest. I would take the 40 GB Arabs every time. They come with 40 spears/javelins, 40 shields,  8 horns, 8 swords and 16 bows. Enough to be able to customise them and look good on the battlefield! Plus, the GB figures come with plastic Renedra bases (the square ones) in various 20mm sizes.
